WordPress Plugin

The Voicgen plugin adds AI-generated audio to your blog posts. After you connect your site with an API key in Settings → Voicgen, you can have audio created when you publish—or control it from each post. Visitors get a player on the post so they can listen without leaving the page.

What it does

When you publish or update a post, the plugin sends the article to Voicgen so we can turn it into speech and host the audio file. Your API key stays in WordPress—it is not shown to readers. The player appears on the public post, usually above or below the article (your choice in settings), or wherever you put the shortcode in the content.

If you turn on automatic generation, updating only tags, categories, or the featured image (without changing the title or main text) will not create new audio, so small edits don't waste your allowance.

What you get

  • Settings screen — paste your API key, test the connection, choose whether the player sits above or below the post, and turn automatic generation on or off.
  • Voicgen Audio panel — in the post editor (sidebar), see status (for example Not generated, Queued, Generating, Ready, or Failed), generate or regenerate audio, and optionally disable audio for that post only.
  • Posts list — an Audio column on Posts → All Posts shows status at a glance.
  • Shortcode — place the player exactly where you want with [voicgen_player](see the Shortcode page). If you use it, the plugin won't add a second player automatically.

Before you install

  • WordPress 5.8 or newer
  • PHP 8.0 or newer (check under Tools → Site Health if unsure)
  • A Voicgen account and an API key from your Voicgen dashboard
  • A normal internet connection from your hosting so WordPress can reach Voicgen
Posts only for nowThe editor panel and automatic player are built for standard Posts. Other content types (like Pages) are not covered in this version of the plugin.

Next steps

Install the plugin, open Settings → Voicgen, and follow the configuration guide to connect your account. Then open any post to try generating audio.
