Configuration

Everything lives under Settings → Voicgen: your API key, a connection test, where the player appears on posts, and whether new audio is created automatically when you publish or update.

API key

Sign in to Voicgen and open the API keys section in your account. Create or copy a key—it usually starts with vg_live_. Paste it into the API Key field in WordPress. Use Show to double-check what you pasted, then click Test connection to confirm WordPress can reach your Voicgen account.

When the test succeeds, click Save settings at the bottom of the page.

Protect your keyTreat the API key like a password. Do not share it publicly or paste it into unrelated websites. If you think it was exposed, create a new key in Voicgen and update it here.

What each setting does

Player position — choose whether the player appears above or below the post body on the public site. This only applies when you are not placing the player only with the shortcode (see below).

Auto-generate — when enabled, Voicgen will try to create or refresh audio when you publish a post or when you change the title or main content of an already published post. Turn it off if you prefer to use Generate audioonly when you want it, from each post's sidebar panel.

Voice choice and account limits are managed in your Voicgen account, not inside this settings screen.

Test connection

The test button verifies that your key is accepted before you rely on it for live posts. If it fails, copy the key again from Voicgen, make sure there are no extra spaces, and try once more. If it still fails, see Troubleshooting.

Recommended order
Paste key → Test connection → wait for success → Save settings → publish or open a post to generate audio.

Player position and the shortcode

If you add [voicgen_player] to the post body, that placement wins and the plugin will not add a second automatic player. More detail: Shortcode.

Quick startThe settings page includes a short checklist: key → test → save → publish a post.
