Keyboard and focus

Listeners should be able to play, pause, scrub, and change speed without guessing tab order. Group controls in a single landmark and announce state changes politely—no shouting.

  • Provide a “skip to transcript” link near the player.
  • Keep contrast high for progress indicators—not just the thumb.
  • Avoid autoplay with sound on first visit; respect stored preferences.

When transcript text tracks audio, offer highlight-on-play that can be turned off. Motion-sensitive readers will thank you.
